On October 5 & 6 Fort Atkinson State Historical Park is having their last Living History weekend for 2024. We have exciting things happening. (Nebraska State Park Sticker required)

Learn about the election in 1824!

Butchering a bison and Native drumming on Saturday!

  • 2:00 PM Saturday, Joslyn speaker Thomas Busciglio-Ritter on Karl Bodmer’s art
  • 2:00 PM Sunday, Wade Davis on "Role of Ft. Atkinson in the Fur Trade"

11:00 AM Cutting crops, grass, Building a haystack & winnowing
11:30 AM Near Council House Native Drumming
12:00 PM Flagpole on Parade Ground Assembly, Noon Gun
12:00 PM Shade Trees on the Parade Ground Pressing Apples for Cider
12:05 PM Dinner Call (Peas upon a trencher)
12:05 PM Bake Oven Bison sampling, until gone
2:00 PM Visitor Center Speaker Thomas Busciglio-Ritter on Bodmer's paintings.
